These environmental slow cookers are quit impressive.

They are great for a variety of meals like meat, poultry or fish.

They can bake bread, cakes or cookies; you can use them for pasta, rice or vegetables, even eggs, soup and tea.





How do they work?

Solar ovens rely on two of these three following elements to produce enough heat to cook.

Solar Cooker

1- Concentrating sunlight; by using mirrors or reflectors to redirect the solar energy.

2- Converting light to heat; using black cooking pots, and non-toxic black paint for the inside and outside of the oven.

3- Trapping heat; with a plastic or glass covert while letting the suns rays heating the inside of the ovens.

These ovens must also be well insulated to keep the heat trapped inside and they must withstand temperatures exceeding 176C/350F.

Put the oven in direct sunlight and avoid potential shade for best result.

First start with small and ease things like hamburgers, chickens, rice or vegetables like baked potatoes.



Prepare foods early in the day and place in oven.

Compare to normal cooking, most solar recipes will need less water.



Solar Chef There will be no need to stir food when cooking and don't worry about overcooking because bread, cake and green veggies are the only foods you'll need to watch.

The time needed to cook will vary based on the temperature of the solar cooker when putted in it and certainly by the sun's presence.

Depending on models, there temperature can reach 121C/250F on partial cloudy days and 176C/350F on full sunny days. Check your thermometer.
